ABOUT SILACA
Our Journey
SilaCa Tasmania began in 2022 with a simple idea -- disability support could be done differently.
Founded by Sam and Jess, SilaCa grew from our shared experience working within the disability sector and seeing firsthand just how much difference the right support can make.
Between us, we bring almost 20 years of experience in the disability support industry, but SilaCa wasn't created simply from what we'd learned over those years. It was also shaped by the things we believed could be better.
We wanted to create a provider where people weren't treated like a roster, a shift or a funding package. Where support workers were chosen because they genuinely suited the person they were supporting. And where participants had a real voice in what their support looked like.
What began in 2022 has continued to grow, but the reason SilaCa exists has remained the same: to provide support we'd be proud to have provided to someone we care about.

Built From Experience
Almost 20 years of combined industry experience has taught us a lot — but perhaps most importantly, it has taught us that good disability support isn't one-size-fits-all.
We've worked alongside people with different abilities, personalities, support needs, goals and life experiences. We've seen what can happen when someone has the right people around them, and we've also seen the impact when support simply isn't the right fit.
Those experiences continue to influence the decisions we make at SilaCa today — from how we build teams and communicate, to how we approach challenges and develop supports.
Guided by Our Values
Our values aren't something we want sitting on a wall or hidden in a policy manual. They're meant to be seen in the way we actually work.
Respect & Choice
The person receiving support should have a genuine say in their own life. We listen, respect choices and recognise that everyone has the right to do things their own way.
Genuine Connection
Skills and experience matter, but so does connection. We place enormous value on finding support workers who are not only capable, but who genuinely connect with the person they're supporting.
Independence
Our role isn't to take over. Wherever possible, we encourage people to participate, learn, make decisions and do as much for themselves as they want to.
Reliability & Trust
Individuality
People need to know they can rely on their support team. We value consistency, communication, honesty and following through on what we say we'll do.
Different people need different things. We don't expect people to fit around SilaCa - we work to make support fit around them.
The People Behind SilaCa
SilaCa isn't run from a distant head office by people who have never worked a support shift.
As Directors, Sam and Jess remain closely involved in the day-to-day running of SilaCa. That connection to participants, families, staff and the everyday realities of disability support is important to us.
As SilaCa has grown, so has our team — but we've worked hard to hold onto the personal approach that was there from the beginning.
We want people to know who they're dealing with, feel comfortable picking up the phone when something isn't right and trust that their concerns will be taken seriously.

Our Team
The people providing support are an enormous part of someone's experience with SilaCa. That's why we don't believe in simply filling shifts.
We look for people who bring kindness, reliability, professionalism and personality to their role. Just as importantly, we consider whether a support worker is the right fit for the individual.
Different personalities work with different personalities - and that's okay.
When the match is right, support can become something much more meaningful than completing tasks. It can build confidence, create opportunities and develop genuine, trusting relationships.
Growing Without Losing Who We Are

SilaCa has grown considerably since we began in 2022, and we're incredibly proud of that growth.
But becoming bigger has never been the goal on its own.
As we continue to welcome new participants and team members, one thing matters enormously to us: not losing the personal approach SilaCa was built on.
Growth should mean being able to help more people, create more opportunities and build stronger teams — not becoming impersonal.
We want SilaCa to grow while still feeling like SilaCa.
Looking Ahead
Our story is still being written.
We're continuing to grow, learn and develop SilaCa around the needs of the people we support. There will always be new ideas, new opportunities and things we can do better.
What won't change is the foundation we started with in 2022: listen to people, treat them with respect, surround them with good people and never forget whose life the support is actually about.
